FOR PASTORS | Lux Summer Theological Institute for Youth

The Ideal Student

Pastors and educators are encouraged to nominate their theologically curious students to apply for the Lux Summer Theological Institute. The ideal student for the Lux Institute is one who asks big questions about their faith and world. Perhaps this is an exceptional student from your confirmation class. Or, maybe a student who is engaged in mission and service activities and has a deep care for the community around them. The students who thrive in our intellectually rigorous environment are eager to read, dive deep into the mystery of faith and knowledge, grow in vocational discernment, and build intentional community.

Individual nominations can be submitted to Interim Chaplain, Rev. Dr. Monica Corsaro at mcorsaro@monmouthcollege.edu. Please submit the student’s name and email address and we will reach out to them directly with information about the application process. Alternatively, you can forward information to your students and have them apply directly through our website.

Why Lux Matters for your Church

The hope of the Lux Institute is to inspire and equip students for meaningful change in their communities after they return home. Lux Institute programming gives students, among other things, opportunities to lead worship, guide classroom discussion, and build community. Students are encouraged to engage their congregations in theological reflection and faith-based action upon their return, and we hope their remarkable gifts enrich your congregations.
